Blackpool Swiveling Wind Shelter
Blackpool, England

A Glass Fibre Reinforced Plastic (GRP) exterior shell complete with viewing portholes protects Blackpool visitors from the harsh winds. The design of the shelter aerodynamically displaces the wind as it moves across its bow, while the built-in wind vane assures the shelter's positioning directly into the prevailing wind. An air filled pneumatic system lines the interior of the shelter to add a second layer of protection and comfort. When the wind blows, air inflates Kevlar "cushions" for sitting on and leaning against.
