Surrounded by an existing glass building façade on three sides, the interior of the Bridgeport Coffee shop is filled with warm wood surfaces, which create a welcoming experience for visitors. The natural, knotty grain of the wood harmonizes coffee drinkers to the South American forests — frequented by Bridgeport Coffee’s owner — where family farmers grow the coffee beans. UrbanLab’s design approach for the café reflects Bridgeport Coffee’s brand, which is based on organic and fair-trade practices. Materials throughout the café are sourced from certified organic production and processing. For instance, the wood used to make the custom cabinetry and decorative walls supports sustainable forestry that helps protect the environment.
