La Colombe
La Colombe is an artisan coffee roaster with locations across the US. UrbanLab is working with La Colombe to energize bustling street corners throughout Chicago with new cafes. In each case, small, casual coffee shops embody the energy and spirit of Chicago’s hip and historic Wicker Park, Gold Coast, Andersonville, Lincoln Park, and Logan Square neighborhoods. Patrons gather in custom designed booths and around communal tables and watch the activity, contributing to each cafe’s palpable buzz. Large black-painted steel and glass windows open to street-side seating bringing natural light into the cafes, which creates cozy and intimate settings for patrons. UrbanLab continues to help Le Colombe develop an effective design strategy of customized variations unique to each new locale, incorporating both a consistent retail vision and a cohesive brand strategy. With an emphasis on sourcing and roasting coffee beans with care, and borrowing on ancient and modern coffee traditions from around the world, the cafes draw a steady stream of loyal customers.
