For this entry to an international competition, UrbanLab developed a design strategy that deploys a series of landscape elements (patches and strands) that allow environmental patterns to emerge over time. Following landscape ecology principles developed by landscape ecologist Richard T.T. Forman, the design strategy supports interaction between independent landscape elements (both ecological and cultural) in an attempt to create a healthy living-system that evolves slowly over time.
