Comprehensive Regional Plan for the Chicago Metropolis

UrbanLab is working with the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) to develop the Chicago region's next comprehensive plan, ON TO 2050. The 2050 Plan is a highly transparent and collaborative effort involving partners and stakeholders from across seven counties and 284 communities with a total population over 9 million people in northeastern Illinois. For nearly two years, UrbanLab collaborated with CMAP and its stakeholders to design and visualize urban design scenarios to assess where the region currently stands and to identify catalytic solutions for creating a future-oriented, sustainable and livable region. The 2050 plan process identified three clear, overarching principles: Inclusive Growth (we must provide economic opportunity for all residents and communities), Resilience (we must prepare for future changes, both known and unknown), and Prioritized Investment (we must carefully target resources to maximize benefit).
