UrbanLab’s proposal for a new 25,000 square foot building with a diverse set of programs is a simple iconic volume set in a small city on the shores of Lake Michigan. The design resolves the complex program requirements including a multi-purpose main hall with a capacity of 1500 people; a makerspace; an artist-in-residence apartment; a small restaurant; multiple bars; a rooftop outdoor space; flexible office spaces for creatives; as well as supporting program. The hybrid building would transform the downtown business district and nearby marina.
